Happy Valentine’s Day!
I thought long and hard about what kind of bracelet to feature today, as our little Valentine’s treat to you… After all, there are so many fabulous design options for Valentines. Hot pink and rich chestnut brown for raspberries and chocolate… Classic red, with gold, white, pink, black or even grey as an accent…. Pink and white… pink and gold… Diamond, heart or all sorts of “love” images…. really the choices are endless!
In the end I decided to take a happy, joyful colour approach and take inspiration from classic Valentine’s candy hearts.
Tiny, sweet, with adorable messages and a quintessential Spring palette of purple, pink, white, green and orange… these little sugary treats only appear this time of year and are instantly recognizable icons of a childhood Valentine’s day. They may not be sophisticated, but they are utterly charming.
In the newest waves of uniques to appear at Tartooful there have been so many very fun and fresh designs with lots of hearts, florals and just the right colours to built this sweet and flirty bracelet. It’s packed with creamsicle orange hearts, minty fresh flowers, buttercup yellow petals, pink polka dots and and plum perfect patterns.
In my bag of Troll Tricks this might be a bracelet that only came together for a few weeks over the Spring – but wouldn’t it be the perfect thing then? I would rearrange all the beads for other times of the year and recycle them into Summer, Fall and Christmas compositions. The Love themed silvers are easy to play with all year round!
Clockwise from clasp: “Cherry Blossom Lock, “Unique”, “Unique”, “Organic Hearts”, “Valentine’s 2015 Ltd Edition”, “Unique”, “Valentine’s 2015 Ltd Edition”, “Heart Conch”, “Valentine’s 2015 Ltd Edition”, “Unique”, “Forget me not”, “Unique”, “Unique”, “Heart”, “Valentine’s 2015 Ltd Edition”, “Unique”, “Valentine’s 2015 Ltd Edition”, “Neverending”, “Unique”, “Unique”.
I hope you have all had a sweet and lovely Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone! I know, I know… it’s a cheesy holiday, but really, why not take the time to tell the people you love just how much they mean to you anyhow? Perhaps one shouldn’t need a special day to do that, perhaps one ought really to tell them every day. But just in case it occasionally gets forgotten, a special day doesn’t hurt.
We at Tartooful prefer thoughtful gestures – a handwritten love note… a heartfelt homemade card with scrawled Xs and Os to Mum… the first blooms of Spring from the garden… We’ve made up an inspiration bracelet with love, as our gift to all of you today. Hopefully its exuberant palette is like a ray of sunshine for those of
you still snowed under by Winter! We’ve included lots of the Valentines Limited edition release, “Be My Valentine”… we love this Aurora series bead, with it’s shimmering glass depths and fascinating little copper heart. The heart feels like mother of pearl, as the glass works its magic on the rosy toned metal. “Aurora Flowers” makes a pretty
companion, as does “Aurora Stripe” and the now retired “Silver Trace, Pink”. A lovely heart unique helps to gel the Valentine’s theme, as do the “Trefoil Knot”, “Endless” and “Swan”, with it’s little heart hidden beneath its’ breast. An Amethyst helps to enhance the lavender tones in the Aurora beads, and its facets add sparkle…
However you plan to spend this Valentine’s, we wish you a beautiful day, with lots of love…
This big beautiful box was waiting for me at work today… a wonderful surprise gift from the amazing N.O.! (how exciting! Let’s open it!)
OooOooOoo … I wish I had words to describe the fragrance when I opened the box… sweet, buttery, warm, delicious, mouth teasingly YUM.
WOW. It’s another eye-poppingly incredible display of cookie genius by NO. She’s outdone herself once again. The detail is phenomenal: pearlescent icing… tiny, perfectly placed buttons, jewels and dots to create the most delicate sugar lingerie… graceful script writing, and not a crumb out of place.
Wonderfully cheeky! She’s turned these previously innocent hearts into a box full of bosoms and, well… “cheeks” worthy of Agent Provocateur. N.O., one of these days Martha Stewart is going to come knocking, looking for a few tips. Perhaps then you’ll start a saucy little baking company called “Agent Boulangère?!”
Thank you, N.O., for these tiny masterpieces. I know how much time each of these must have taken, and the care that you put into each perfect dot of sugar. I truly appreciate every moment of it. I’ve spent time soaking in every detail.
My kids will show their wonder and appreciation when they agonize over which to choose, and then take that first bite – followed by huge smiles!
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone – I hope you all enjoy the smiles of your loved ones today!
The new bead designs for Spring of 2012 have clearly inspired the folks at Trollbeads as much as they have us… They’ve given us a fresh, “Valentine’s Bracelet” Composition for 2012 that has us drooling…
Soft, subtle, delicate and fresh.. it’s classic Trollbeads! The new Ruby is the star, of course, and it looks perfect nestled among these lovely lavenders. The gold “Mountain Flower” is a treat for the eyes… (It’s secretly an Easter Egg… look at it sideways the next time you’re in the shop….) The deep indigo “Purple Flower Tassel” adds interest to the composition, and the limited edition striped agate grounds the design. I’m happy to see the “Lavender Prism” at play here, as we have a unusually sparkly, absolutely beautiful one in the shop and we’ve been having fun trying it out with different combinations.
I think the best part about this bracelet design is that it embraces frankly feminine, pretty and sparkling – but is not at all “girly”. This is a Valentine for grown-ups…
The last few days in Vancouver have been glorious, with amazing sunshine, clear skies and gorgeous pink sunsets. Its a welcome reminder that Spring really is just around the corner… Those of you who are gardeners are probably already counting the shy little blooms – my auricula started blooming weeks ago!
Sunshine and fresh beads – what else do we need? This bracelet feels like a Spring garden tea party, complete with teacups, coffee cups and delicious cakes.
“White Paper Fold” with its subtle tones, is one of our favorites from the new collection. It’s lovely with greys, blues, ambers and every shade of rosy pink.
For this delicate palette we used warm pinks & whites with just a touch of gold, shimmering in the “Crown Chakra”, “Pink Gold” and “Pink Desert”. This bracelet simply glows. We added silver designs that are frankly pretty – new “Jumping Baby Rabbit”, “Teacup”, “Forget-me-not”, “Clasping Hearts Lock”, “Coffee Cup”, “Mountain Flower” and of course “Organic Hearts”.
Like so many of Lisa Aagaard’s glass designs, “Summer Dot” and “Nougat Flower” appear illuminated. Her pieces reflect the light off the silver core inside to play with the light and glow from within.
Clockwise from lock: “Clasping Hearts Lock”, “Pink Ribbon, “Mountain Flower”, “Pink Gold”, “Cake Form”, “White Paper Fold”, “Organic Hearts”, “Pink Desert”, “Coffee Cup”, “Nougat Flower”, “Forget-me-not”, “Summer Dot”, “Baby Rabbit”, “Cream Armadillo”, “Teacup”, “Pink Ribbon”, “Jumping Baby Rabbit”, “White Gold”.
I’m still enjoying my “Copper & Pomegranates” bracelet so much, it’s almost embarrassing. There’s just something about that mouthwatering combination of reds, pinks and peaches that hits my “sweet spot”.
I *thought* it was perfect, just the way it was… but then a couple of beads “happened” to me: first, the 2012 bead retirements were announced, and I just knew I had to adopt a “Pink Bud” before they all disappeared. I’ve had this bead in my collection at various times, but it always ended up on a customer’s bracelet. This time, I’ll have to make sure it doesn’t migrate! I love the way this colour feels right next to my “Red-Pink Prism”, which is also now sadly retired…
Here’s the other bead that “happened”. Can you blame me?! I mean, *look* at it! (“Yer honour, it wanted buyin’…”) It’s a Unique Amber, bright garnet red with huge sparkly facets. I’ve never seen anything like it and I am in LOVE. (Or is it lust?) I’ve reordered another Unique Amber kit, and I’m keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that there will be more beauties like this one!
