At Tartooful, there’s nothing that we love better than throwing a party…

…and there’s no better excuse than a big, beautiful shipment of unique glass beads and the most exciting carved amber designs that we have ever been privileged to see.

These are some absolutely drop-dead beautiful beads, and any one of them would instantly be the jewel of most collections.  We are thrilled to be able to present them to you!  This alone would be cause for celebration, but add to that a menu of classic trunk-show specials, and it becomes spectacular.

Tartooful News: Black Friday Fun…

As any Tartooful regular can say, we never miss a chance to throw a party!

Happy Trollbeads Day 2015

Happy Trollbeads Day! 

Today marks the launch of the much anticipated Trollbeads Day Limited edition Glass Bead for 2015.  There has been much speculation about this bead, even after initial images were released on social media… there are so many colours and such soft, organic patterns in this bead, many collectors wondered if the beads would show large variations from one example to another?  Would the bead that they ordered be as lovely as the photos?

The answer to both questions is a resounding yes!  This is a bead that includes swaths of white, grey, lilac, bird’s egg blue and two shades of green.  The colours blend effortlessly from one to another, making a soft and lovely palette with subtle

differences from one example to another.  In some cases the swirl patterns make nearly geometrically perfect lines, and in others they blur and twist in a fascinating way.  In some examples there is a little more of one colour, and in others a little more of

another.  All of this adds up to a bead where every single one truly is unique… and every single one is *Gorgeous*!  The question this year is not “Did you buy the bead”, but rather… “What kind of bead did you get?”.  Every single one is a treasure.

30 Day Challenge: Finale

Day 30.  Can you believe it?  The month has passed in a flash.  I have so many more ideas now than a few weeks ago… my collection will likely stay in a state of flux for some time, before my bracelets settle into new semi permanent arrangements again.

As expected, I haven’t gone back to my “before” photos even once, and have no interest in trying to recreate old designs.  I have too many things I want to try!  Of course, the 30 day challenge is an extreme situation… daily pressures and timetables prevent most of us from creating an entirely new composition each day.

Even if we did have the time, some beads simply sing too beautifully together to take them apart!  The distilled wisdom to take away at the end of this month long exercise is to go play and have *fun*.  There’s absolutely no wrong way to do this!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all the ladies who have played along with me over the course of the past month.  (If you haven’t been to our facebook page to see their gorgeous designs, be sure to take a peek at the album… ) Ladies, your encouragement, support and beautiful designs have inspired me more than I can say.  Thank you to each one of you for all your time and energy!

Tartooful Welcomes Tomas Cenius to Canada – 21 October 2014

We are delighted and honoured to welcome silver designer, Tomas Cenius to Tartooful in North Vancouver, Canada, on 21 October 2014, from 1-7pm.  Come meet the designer, and enjoy an extraordinary Trollbeads event!

This artist is known to all of us as the creator of some of Trollbeads’ most beloved silvers, including the venerable “Scarab”, the cheeky “High Heel” and my own personal dream bead – gold “Four Seasons”.  Three beads in particular that celebrate stages of family life have charmed so many of us:  “Dancing”, “Marry Me” and  “Family” beautifully capture life’s most tender moments.

In addition, he caught our attention as the designer of a great many of the World Tour silvers… “Love Locks”, “Kilt”, “Beetle”, “Viennese Walz”, “Sunflowers”, “Clogs”, “St Bernard Dog” and so many more showcased  with flair the wide range of this artist’s interests, styles and skills.

Dream Bead:  Four Seasons Gold by Tomas Cenius

Tomas Cenius began his journey as a silver designer as a self taught artist.  He began his career modelling comic book figures in clay before learning the art of wax modelling from Soren Nielsen.  Under Soren’s tuition Tomas became a master of the craft and created jewelry for Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, but prefers designing jewelry that anyone can afford and enjoy.  Now an acclaimed artist, he describes his style as clean, Nordic design combined with figurative forms.

“Essentially my goal is to make beautiful jewelry that touches people. I give the same attention to every piece, whether it is for the Royal couple or the lady next door.”

“When I work with Trollbeads I like the fact that I design something that defines human emotions.”

“My role model was Kaj Nielsen, a great modeller. He taught me the most important tool when you are making sculptures: To work with the shadow boundary!”

Trollbeads Challenge: Day 6

Today I felt like a feminine, pretty composition, and happily played together a rose and gold design.

A large part of this bracelet’s inspiration comes from the “Golden Quartz” above… It was one of those beads that I had admired for ages but never quite got round to acquiring.  I had promised to add a few more golden yellows to my collection after the last challenge, so I finally chose one for myself a couple of months ago.

“Pink Desert”, with its rose pink and rich gold sparkle, makes it easy to pull together a pink and gold design.  My example is a little paler, but the Pink Deserts that have been coming though our stock this Spring have been spectacular.  If this is a bead that you’ve been mulling it’s a good time to go looking!  I love this little combination

of the apricot and butter yellow unique, “Pink Desert” and a limited edition, Russian Pink, mini amber at the end…  I like it opposite the “Rosa Pearl” as they are both so warm and golden, and well matched in shape as well.  The matte, Japanese glass of the apricot toned “Kimono Bead” nicely echoes the warm Rosa Pearl.
